Okay, so I bought a ticket to Japan to visit a few friends of mine that have recently left from New York. Thing is I need some music connects out there. I will be in the Osaka/Kobe area in Kansai. I would LOVE some contacts relating to music/art in general. Anyone here Nihon aware? Lemme know.

Re: Japan's Music Scene
Sun, November 25, 2007 - 10:23 PMHmm, I dunno where the spots are in Osaka. But you should get yourself a JR Rail pass and check out Tokyo. It's about 2 and a half hours on the bullet train. Shibuya has a lot of record shops--I found a few hip hop spots while I was just randomly walking around. Manhattan Records was one--the whole area around Manhattan Records in Shibuya is sort of the record digging area of town.
I'm sure there's more--Japan is insane. Whatever you're into, from hip hop to kitchen equipment to video games to tentacle porn there's an entire neighborhood filled with stores dedicated to it.
Osaka is a much more laid back town than Tokyo. Plus they've got fried octopus balls there! -
