Japan's Music Scene

Okay, so I bought a ticket to Japan to visit a few friends of mine that have recently left from New York. Thing is I need some music connects out there. I will be in the Osaka/Kobe area in Kansai. I would LOVE some contacts relating to music/art in general. Anyone here Nihon aware? Lemme know.

Peace,
Liver

Hmm, I dunno where the spots are in Osaka. But you should get yourself a JR Rail pass and check out Tokyo. It's about 2 and a half hours on the bullet train. Shibuya has a lot of record shops--I found a few hip hop spots while I was just randomly walking around. Manhattan Records was one--the whole area around Manhattan Records in Shibuya is sort of the record digging area of town.

I'm sure there's more--Japan is insane. Whatever you're into, from hip hop to kitchen equipment to video games to tentacle porn there's an entire neighborhood filled with stores dedicated to it.

Osaka is a much more laid back town than Tokyo. Plus they've got fried octopus balls there!

Yo, you gotta check out this HUGE Reggae Party while you're out there.

These guys (Mighty Crown Sound System) are the rulers of the 2007 World Sound Clash!!!

I saw them in NYC two days ago at a bashment hosted by Deadly Dragon Sound System whose guests included Johnny Osbourne, Sadiki & Shabba Ranks . . . Pure Fyah!!!
